How to Grill Steak

Whether you have always loved the taste of grilled meats including chicken, shrimp and steak or you are simply interested in expanding your current set of cooking skills, grilling a steak is not challenging and is possible with very little to no prior experience in cooking. When preparing a steak, various methods and techniques are available depending on the cut and thickness of the meat in addition to the preferred temperature at which you prefer to eat your steak.
First: Preparing the steak
Thaw the steak before you start grilling the meat. When cooking grilled steak it is important to prepare the steak by defrosting it entirely before placing it on the grill in addition to soaking it in marinades (although this is optional). Marinades range from store-bought options to homemade marinades using lemon juice, soy sauce and chicken and beef stock for flavoring (in addition to traditional garlic and butter marinades).
Second: Grilling the steak
Apply the rub or marinade (again) just before placing the steak onto the grill to start the cooking process. For the most flavorful results, allow the rub or marinade to sit on the steak for at least 30 minutes prior to cooking the meat (or overnight for additional soaking time). The level of doneness the steak has is determined by how thick the steak is as well as how long the steak has cooked on the grill. Steak doneness levels range from rare and medium rare to medium, medium well and well done. For a more complete meal, consider grilling vegetables that were also flavored with the same marinade.
